"The castle Werdegg was apparently burned in the Old Zurich War around 1444 and previously served first the lords of Werdegg, knights and councils in Zurich, later the lords of Landenberg of Werdegg, as the seat.
The castle was the center of a considerable nobility and until the destruction in the mid-15th century seat of influential noble families, it represents the historic core of the community Hittnau.
