The listed Schneemelcher House is located at Marktstraße 6, north of the market square in Quedlinburg, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This three-story, stately timber-framed house was built in 1562, as indicated by a building inscription, in the style of Lower Saxon timber-framed construction. The richly decorated facade is particularly noteworthy. Even the dormer window on the right-hand side features Lower Saxon decorative elements such as fan rosettes and cylindrical beam ends.
The sill plates are decorated with ship's keel moldings, rope moldings, and wave bands.
The building bears the inscription:
Necessity taught us to build a house.
