After years of decay, the building was repaired between 1999 and 2001. In a second phase, the visitor center in Grube-Adolf-Park was designed in the years 2002 to 2004 with funding from the state program "Take the initiative". In the machine hall, alongside the historic steam winding machine, there are exhibits from the life and work of the miners. In addition, information is given on the use and refinement of hard coal.

The adjoining fan motor hall was designed by members of the association into a meeting and training room as well as a ballroom. Numerous furnishings and exhibits are reminiscent of mining.

The modern automated energy center controls an environmentally friendly heating system. The solar thermal system installed on the roof provides additional heat for the underfloor heating and the heat exchangers for the hot water supply.

Overall, the hoisting machine house has become the visitor center in Grube-Adolf-Park. For the former miners, however, it will always remain the hoisting machine house of the weather shaft of the Adolf pit.
