Past this gate the road along the narrow strip of land between the Assinie canal that connects here with the lagoon des Ehotilés is private, mostly belonging to the Farkhory family, the Danielle Ouattara family (wife of the president), and other wealthy & powerful Ivorians. In the middle lied the former Club Assinie Paradis, previously on track to become part of Clu Med, until it was abandoned during the civil war, and later snatched up by the architect and owner of the most successful civil engineering company PFO, Pierre Farkhoury (now run by his grandson).
