The Grand-Bassam attack is a shooting which took place on March 13, 2016 in a tourist district of the Ivorian seaside resort of Grand-Bassam, a tourist destination in Côte d'Ivoire, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. and prized by both Ivorians and Westerners. The attack officially left 19 dead, including three soldiers from the Ivorian forces. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for this attack the same evening, which was a first in Ivory Coast.
