The captaincy was built in 1899 at the same time as the Bassin du Commerce, which at the time was intended to remedy the gradual loss of the city's role as a major river port.

The harbor post office with the tower looks like a church. And right next to it is the harbor basin. An enchanted place. It is obvious that no mail is sent here anymore, but the post office is still active. And something is happening in the harbor district. The burned-down inn is being rebuilt.
