The monument is located in the most beautiful area of Salamis in Faneromeni, opposite the famous Monastery.
It was built in 2000 in memory of the Naval Station which was established in the area from 1878 to 1881. In the place of the museum was the Naval Station Command.
Right next to the monument is the bust of Aggelos Sikelianos and the small museum that was his residence.
