The heart of the Veitshöchheim waterworks is the 21-meter-high water tower on the western garden wall of the court garden. The court garden of Veitshöchheim Castle itself is considered one of the most beautiful Rococo gardens in Europe. Two pumps were originally driven by the undershot water wheel on the ground floor. These sucked water from a collecting basin and pressed it through lead pipes into three vats high up. The vats had a total capacity of over 50 barrels, or more than 45,000 liters. Once all the containers were full, valves were operated and water flowed through long lead pipes to the garden's water features.
