The Porta San Marco, known as the Lion Gate, is, together with the Porta Superiore or San Zeno and the Cansignorio Gate, one of the three access gates to the ancient medieval fortress of the lakeside town of Lazise and to the historic center and the heart of the city overlooking Lake Garda 👍
The gates date back to the time of Venetian rule over the city. Inside the Lion Gate there is a sculpture depicting the winged lion of San Marco.
Small curiosity: the door was walled up between 1701 and 1960.

The wonderful entrance to the old town of Lazise.
In summer, the large flowers of the giant hibiscus can always be seen on the left at the entrance.
It's incredibly beautiful. Not just the great entrance gate.
