The listed Senftenberg distance column is one of the post mile columns that were erected in the Electorate of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner in the first half of the 18th century on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony.

Like almost all distance columns, it consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms and tip.

The no longer existing original of the Senftenberg distance column was made according to the Saxon State Archives in 1730 and placed in 1731 on the market square Senftenberg. In 1847 she was dismantled. Only the coat of arms piece was rescued and is today in the district museum Senftenberg. The distance column today at the original place on the Senftenberger market is a copy, which was unveiled in 2000.
