From May to October, the Houthuizer chapel is open daily between sunrise and sunset. The chapel was founded in 1948 by the residents of the Houthuizen neighbourhood. They founded it because they had come through the Second World War relatively unscathed; there were no deaths or injuries from Houthuizen. The chapel is dedicated to the Holy Family. A statue of the Holy Family also takes centre stage in the chapel.

Above the entrance to the chapel is a statue of Henri Belletable; the founder of the Brotherhood of the Holy Family. He preached about the importance of close family ties.
In May and October, the rosary is prayed in the chapel every Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
