The waiting areas around Göttingen belonged to the Landwehr. There are several places where these waiting areas stood without much to be seen there. In addition to the Roringer observation point, the nearby Ries observation point and the Diemarden observation point are among the more or less preserved Göttingen observation points.

You can't miss the lookout tower if you're cycling, as it's right next to the bike path. Unfortunately, you can't go in because the door is locked. The steps to the door are also missing (the doorway is far too high). Nevertheless, I find the ruins interesting, and it's a good place to stop for a break.
