      The square, which was still known as the "backyard garden" of the Grand Duke Carl Alexander in 1878, is now known as "Carl Alexander Square". There is a sandstone memorial column on it, which the Grand Duke received on the occasion of his 25th anniversary in office.
      The new name was given in 1880 when it was converted into a public facility!
