Hike to Power Station Pier – A Short & Scenic Coastal Escape

This was a mellow, rewarding hike out to the Power Station Pier that combines open air, water views, and a little touch of industrial history.

Distance: ~2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: Minimal
Trail Surface: Mostly packed gravel and boardwalk
Difficulty: Easy – flat and family-friendly
Highlights: Coastal views, marine life, peaceful pier vibes

The trail was easy to follow and well-maintained, with coastal breezes and wide-open views the whole way. As you get closer to the pier, you get that cool contrast of nature brushing up against the old power station structures — kind of gritty in a good way.

The pier itself is a chill place to hang out. I saw a few people fishing, others just sitting and taking it all in. If you’re into photography or bird watching, definitely bring your gear — I spotted herons and a few seals hanging out near the pilings.

Great little out-and-back hike if you’re in the area and want something low effort with a high payoff. Also a solid spot to catch a sunset if you time it right.

There's a very nice restaurant across from the power plant, which is also worth a visit.
