Haus Hohenbusch is a former monastery of the Order of the Cross. In a permanent exhibition in the manor house you can learn interesting facts about the history of the order and the monastery.

Today it is a meeting place for the city of Erkelenz with a cafe and event rooms.

From 1302 to 1802 the Hohenbusch Kreuzherrenkloster was located here. In the course of the secularization by the French, the Erkelenz domain administrator Johann Josef Spiess (see city tour of Erkelenz) signed the revocation protocol. The furnishings of the monastery church were distributed to surrounding churches (e.g. possibly Linnich Church), around 130 manuscripts and early prints are now in the diocesan library in Cologne as well as in Munich, Brussels and New York. In the permanent exhibition (free of charge) on the upper floor of the manor house, a room is reminiscent of the former scriptorium.
A circular path (Brevierweg) invites you to leisurely exploration, the café is open Thursday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Insect hotel, a well-tended herb garden from Andorn to Ziest, farmers' market with 120 exhibitors on the first weekend in October .. It is worth taking a look at the calendar of events!

Nice old building with a very nice monastery cafe that is only open from Thursdays. Coffee and cake but also hot dishes available and delicious. Many attractive offers all year round. More information at:
