According to general opinion, this cross has no religious significance. It is also not supposed to have been erected for atonement or to remind people of the suffering and hardships of the people. Like the Lambertskreuz or Johanniskreuz, for example, it stands on an old traffic route, the old elevated road, and on a border. In its present form, a tall stone cross on a pedestal bearing the inscription P.W.V. In 1910 it was erected by the Palatinate Forest Association as a knight's stone to commemorate the former "Stone Cross" in 1910.

Like the Lambert Cross or St. John's Cross stands here on the old elevated road a stone cross, which also represents a landmark. On the pedestal of the cross is "PWV 1910", it serves as a reminder of the former cross, built in 1910.

This is one of over 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association. It has an unusual shape, namely the shape of a cross. It was built in 1910 and is reminiscent of a former so-called "Stone Cross" that stood here on the old Hochstraße. Source: kuladig.de/Objectansicht/KLD-327224
Today the district road K 38 (Weidenthal - Elmstein) passes here at an altitude of 469 m (height information according to the full marker).
