The building, built between 1606 and 1623, houses the sculptural group attributed to Francesco Silva.
Next to Jesus Christ in the centre is an angel raising the chalice of the Passion, while on the right Peter, James and John rest asleep; on the left a group led by Judas approaches threateningly.

The frescoes (1630) are attributed to Bartolomeo Vandoni from Oleggio. In the apse, in addition to the monumental Saints Matthew and Luke, three episodes are depicted:
Christ revealing himself to the soldiers, Judas and the capture of Christ with Peter cutting off Malchus' ear.
On the left wall is depicted the entry of Judas into the Garden of Olives, while on the right wall is Jesus, already captured and being led away.
Between the sixth and seventh chapels, the "Grotta delle Beate" (Grotto of the Blessed) recalls the setting in which Saint Catherine of Pallanza and Saint Giuliana of Busto Arsizio, the founders of the female religious order of the "Romite Ambrosiane", withdrew to their hermitage in the 15th century.
