The Waag in Alkmaar is a building on Waagplein that was used as a chapel and weigh house. Today, it houses the Dutch Cheese Museum and the tourist information office. The building features a tower with famous equestrian statues and a beautiful carillon. It was declared a national monument in 1969. The cheese market takes place on Waagplein during the summer.
