The tower is a reconstruction of a Prussian survey tower. Before the advent of satellite-based point determination z. B. with GPS, the determination of the main survey points for the creation of maps was a time-consuming business. Because there had to be a line of sight between the measurement points. If the view between these points, which are often more than 50 kilometers apart, was obstructed by mountains or vegetation, for example, heavy wooden scaffolding had to be erected for the measurement.
