    Argenschwang Castle, popularly known as Rosenburg since the 19th century, is the ruin of a hilltop castle at around 295 m above sea level. NN in the local community Argenschwang.

    Argenschwang Castle was first reliably mentioned on June 19, 1332.
    At that time, the castle complex was owned by Count Johann II von Sponheim-Kreuznach, who lent the castle to his illegitimate son Simon von Argenschwang. In 1416, the lords of Leyen were enfeoffed with the castle, and one fifth of the complex was passed on to Count Palatine Ludwig III by Countess Elisabeth von Sponheim-Vianden. the bearded one.

    After the Counts of Sponheim died out in 1437, Argenschwang Castle came into the possession of several owners, the heirs of the Sponheimers
    The castle was destroyed in the First Coalition War in 1793, and later it was auctioned off as a French national property during the 19th century. In 1929 there were plans to rebuild the facility, but these were not put into practice. In 1977 it was sold to private owners. The castle ruins are not open to the public.

      In the rebuilt gatehouse of the Rosenburg Castle, they can exchange vows in the tastefully furnished wedding room of the Rüdesheim Municipal Registry Office.

      The Rosenburg Castle in Argenschwang was built in the 12th century by the Counts of Sponheim. It was first mentioned in documents in 1195.
      Of the hilltop castle, situated at 295 meters above sea level, only the 17th-century gatehouse remains completely intact.
      Weddings for parties of up to 25 people are possible in the fireplace room of the restored gatehouse.
      The landscaped courtyard and the area under the archway are also available for a champagne reception.
