Christiansholm Fortress is located in the south of Norway and is part of the city of Kristiansand

The region of today's Kristiansand was probably already populated in the Stone Age. The city was officially founded in 1641 by King Kristian IV. In 1666, Kristiansand became a garrison town and 16 years later it also became a bishop's seat.

Christiansholm Fortress, built in 1672, is located on an island that is now connected to the mainland.
