Fantastically beautiful, especially when it shines in blue. The geographical location between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and the excellent performance of the port industry make the Port of Hamburg the leading foreign trade hub of the Federal Republic of Germany. As Germany's largest universal port, it is of crucial importance for supplying the European domestic markets with up to 450 million consumers. The universal port generates a total of around 20 billion euros in gross value added annually and employs more than 600,000 people directly and indirectly. State-of-the-art technology in the handling facilities and data communication systems, an efficient transport infrastructure and a powerful feeder and hinterland connection create the conditions for the exchange of goods with trading partners all over the world. In addition, the port plays a central role in export and import logistics for industry and trade in Hamburg and the metropolitan region.
