The Malakoff Tower in the city of Luxembourg was built in 1861 and stands in a narrow bend on Rue Jules Wilhelm, in the immediate vicinity of Rue Malakoff, between the Clausen district and Fort Thüngen up to the Kirchberg plateau.
Another Malakoff tower in Luxembourg is a lonely mushroom-shaped rock on the Müllerthal Trail. The name was given to it by Dutch soldiers stationed in Echternach in the mid-19th century in memory of its strategic importance in the Crimean War (1853–1856).

History and meaning
The tower is part of the Luxembourg Fortress and was the last building to be built before it was razed in 1867.

The name goes back to the tower of Fort Malakov, which played an important role in the Crimean War and was fought over for a long time. The term Malakoff became a symbol of strength and impregnability and was intended to bring this to the fortress of Luxembourg.

The bend in which the tower is located has repeatedly become a problem for truck traffic.
