Above the venerable church is the bell memorial. The architecturally attractive and worth seeing bell memorial in the cemetery houses three bells from 1928, while the original bells are on the church tower. Two plaques are set up in the memorial to commemorate those who died in World War I and World War II.

In the run-up to the construction of a bell memorial for those who died in the World War 1914-18, the "Committee for the Construction and Maintenance of a War Memorial in Lauter" called on all residents of the community to donate. The office of the first chairman of the committee was held by factory owner Paul Götz. The second chairman was businessman Max Schmidt and chief accountant Walter Weißflog acted as secretary. The design of the bell memorial, the figures and the memorial plaque were created by sculptor Bruno Ziegler from Chemnitz. The construction was carried out by the company Nötel & Männel from Lauter.
On August 18, 1928, the three bronze bells (hero bell, youth bell and children's bell) were installed in their place in the memorial. All of the bells, cast by Franz Schilling & Sons in Apolda, were a donation from factory owner Guido Götz and his wife Else, née Schmidt.
For the celebrations, a printed “Festival Order for the 300th Anniversary of the Church of Lauter combined with the Consecration” was published.

On September 29th, 1928, at 3 p.m., the festive consecration of the bells took place by Superintendent Nicolai from Schneeberg. The bells were consecrated individually and rung for the first time. In the evening, a pre-celebration took place in the school gym with the band of the 1st (Jäger) Battalion No. 10 (Saxon) I.R. Dresden-N., the men's choir "Arion", the D.T. Lauter gymnastics club and the Lauter mandolin and zither club.

On Sunday, September 30th, the band of the 1st (Jäger) Battalion No. 10 (Saxon) I.R. performed a concert on the market square. The consecration of the bell memorial took place at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
