The area around the Herderhaus looks like a small time capsule island in the middle of the urban development of Erding-Aufhausen, not far from the large box of the Amadeus data center. The trees make a worthy impression. A stone's throw from the house is a small chapel - the chapel in the linden grove.

It is the oldest rural house in the district of Erding. Built around 1650. It is still in the same place where was built and has been inhabited throughout 400 years. The last shepherd who inhabited it moved out in 1952.

The Herderhaus in Lindenhain in Bergham (Schloßallee 10, 85435 Erding)
"Herder" was the name for the keeper of the community herd. Each town had a herder's house necessary for keeping sheep, which belonged to a village community. The Herderhaus in Bergham was built around 1650,
certainly in the place of an earlier Herderhaus. The roof of the Berghamer Herderhaus is a Schaubachach (Schaub = bush or bundle of straw), i.e. it is thatched. The house was inhabited until 1952. The last Herder died in an Erdinger nursing home in 1967. In addition to the Herderhaus, there are about 120 linden trees, and an additional 80 or so. The trees are of different ages. The oldest linden trees are around 400 years old. The Herderhaus is only open to the public once a year for the Shepherd Festival (end of June).
