Case, aka Andreas Von Chrzanowski, is one of the founding members of the East German crew Ma’Claim. Pioneers of photo-realism, the artist focuses on representing hands, a natural link between the brain and the real world. His perfect mastery of drawing allows him, by playing with his fingers or phalanges, to transmit emotion and message. At Case Maclaim, the superposition of hands is not only a physical movement of the body but also a political movement placed in a particular context where the spectator can visualize recent history and feel an emotion. He left his fingerprints in more than twenty countries. So many universal messages because “a hand gesture can say a thousand words”.
