In the middle of Dunedin is this small island of Chinese architecture and landscape. There are old pavilions, a tea house, waterfalls, ponds, exotic trees and a small bonsai garden. There are a few plastic ducks floating on the pond, which at first glance seems a bit strange. But they serve a purpose: they protect the goldfish from seagulls and crows. When these birds spot motionless ducks, they decide that they must have died from contaminated water and stay away from the pond.
