Parish dependent on the Grimbergen Abbey. An earlier church is said to have already been rebuilt during the time of Abbot Outers (1613-1647); when it turned out to be dilapidated, it was replaced by the current classicist building, consecrated in 1750 and consecrated in 1779; In 1823 it was enlarged as indicated by the memorial plaque placed on the north facade, in which the then mayor E. Vanderlinden, baron van Hoogvorst and pastor R.D.J.J. Janssens are mentioned.

Destroyed during the First World War, the following had to be rebuilt after 1918: the choir, the vault of the church and the stair turret of the west facade.

It is a three-aisled pseudo-basilica in mainly classicist style. The church has a three-sided closed choir. The west facade is made of sandstone. This contains an entrance portal flanked by Tuscan pilasters and topped by a triangular pediment. Also remarkable is the stair turret on the west facade, which had to be renovated in 1923. The east facade is also made of sandstone, while the side facades are made of brick. These are equipped with cross-arch windows.
The church furniture is mainly 19th century and in late classical and neoclassical styles.
