The Cape of Good Hope marks the southernmost tip of the Cape Peninsula, a mountainous peninsula south of Cape Town. This spot is considered by sailors to be the transition between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and was where the Dutch East India Company (VOC) established a refreshment station in the 17th century. This location later evolved into present-day Cape Town.
