The castle of which the first references and records date back to the year 1264, lies on a steep mound above the city and is one of the most beautifully preserved castle buildings on the Slovenian soil. From it we have a wonderful view of the city of Velenje and its surroundings. The castle also houses the Velenje Museum. Today there are eleven permanent museum and gallery collections in the Velenje Museum. If you visit the city of Velenje, the visit to the castle certainly falls alongside. You climb onto the parking lot under the castle at Villa Bianco - a suburban villa, built in the spirit of the old feudal castles. It contains a tourist information center where you will get extensive information about everything worth visiting and visiting Velenje and its surroundings. Here you can also enjoy yourself in a comfortable small inn which is located on the ground floor of Villa Biance.
