Since 1893, a steel observation tower has stood on the Hochsteinchen. From the uppermost platform your gaze wanders over the Hunsrück, the Middle Rhine Valley and even into the Taunus - at least as long as the surrounding spruce trees are lower than the tower.

An iron spiral staircase leads up to the tower, first to a middle platform, then to the upper platform, each of which leads as a narrow walkway with a railing all around.
The steps and platforms are not made of gratings but rather steel plates, so the risk of dizziness is somewhat reduced - especially when descending.
