The Beekhuizen estate is located on the west side of the Veluwezoom National Park, near Velp. You will find walking paths with stylish bridges, a spiral path to the top of a hill and a beautiful pond surrounded by rhododendrons.

Beekhuizen consists of varied and very hilly deciduous and coniferous forests with many beech avenues, a small heathland and some agricultural land. In the middle of the estate, just inside the National Park, lies the park-like valley of the Beekhuizensebeek with springs, waterfalls and ponds.

The Beekhuizen estate was purchased in 1682 by the lord of Biljoen Castle, Alexander van Spaen, and added to Biljoen. Under his descendant Johan Frederik Willem (1746-1827), Beekhuizen acquired international allure through its innovative romantic park construction. The hilly Beekhuizen was to become an Arcadian landscape, where man as a wandering shepherd let the landscape determine his mood. The construction of the landscape park at Beekhuizen started around 1777. Van Spaen was inspired, among other things, by trips he made to Italy, France
and Switzerland.
