This bronze bell was cast for Wongak Temple (the present Tapgol park) in Seoul in the 14th year of King Sejo (1468). With the closing of the monastery during the sixteenth century, it was moved to a number of places and finally installed in the pavilion Bosingak in the 11th year of King Gwanghaegun (1619), where it was struck thirty three times at 4 a.m. (paru) and twenty eight times at 10 p.m. (injeong) each day.
