The Duke of Kent School is a small independent day school for boys and girls. It has an interesting history, exhibits elegant architecture and is surrounded by fine scenery.

The School is situated midway between the delightful Surrey villages of Peaslake and Ewhurst, and lies just 1 km northeast of the summit of Pitch Hill (the fifth highest peak in Surrey).

The Duke of Kent School was founded in 1976 by the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. The School’s name honoured Prince George, the Duke of Kent, (1902-1942), who died in an air crash during the Second World War. The School was established primarily to educate the sons of former and serving RAF personnel.

The School’s main building is Grade II listed and was built in 1885 by Sir Henry Doulton of the Doulton pottery family. The elegant design of this building combined with its raised position and scenic surrounds give the Duke of Kent School an intriguing and impressive appearance.

On walking through the grounds of the Duke of Kent School on the Greensand Way trail, it is fascinating to observe and to admire this interesting and unique seat of learning.
