The Föhrer cinema has been located in the former dance hall of the Kurhaus Hotel (hotel built in 1913) since 1981. At that time it was still leased and equipped with tables and chairs instead of fixed cinema seating. In 1994/95 major renovation work was carried out in the hotel and the decision was made to run the cinema itself from 1995 onwards. Installation of fixed cinema seating in the large hall with around 230 seats and creation of a second small hall with 93 seats. During the renovation, care was taken to ensure that the original charm of the large hall was retained. Until 2010, classic analog projection technology with film reels, which were delivered by plane in large aluminum boxes. Since 2010, digital cinema technology has been used in both halls, which also makes it possible to show 3D films. Since then, films have been sent by post on standard hard drives.
