Small enchanted lake on the Thierberg. The almost black water and the untouched nature are very idyllic. Since the lake has only a few places to lie down, there is hardly any swimming and you can enjoy the silence and privacy.

Lake Längsee is the most inaccessible of the six lakes west of Kufstein. It is nestled in a forest and has very dark water.

Lakes around Kufstein and Kiefersfelden
The lake has only a small stream as its tributary. Lake Längsee is not very popular as a swimming lake, as its beach has no sunbathing areas, but rather steep shores. On the other hand, in good summers, water temperatures can reach up to 25°C (as in early August 2014).

The "Thierberg Lakes" (Pfrillsee, Längsee, Hechtsee, Egelsee) are tectonic features, small collapsed basins that may have been favored by cavities or other karst phenomena. However, the Inn Valley glacier had cleared them out, carved them out, and dammed them with moraine debris and meltwater sediments during the last ice age.

However, Lake Längsee is prone to silting up. Its outflow disappears into a karst sinkhole, emerges again behind a hill to the west, and joins the Hechtbach stream, which is the natural tributary of Hechtsee.
