The design of war memorials, sometimes also called war memorials, is as diverse as the lives of the – often still young – people who fell victim to the warmongering and tyranny of a deluded ideology. Thus, all of these memorials, which can be found in almost every town – often in the immediate vicinity of a parish church or cemetery – share a vivid and relevant message: to keep alive the memory of the suffering and misery of war and thus serve as a reminder for peaceful coexistence between nations.
