Mittenwald is one of the most beautiful places in the Karwendel Alps in Upper Bavaria. Between Wetterstein, Kranzberg and Karwendel lies the picturesque climatic health resort of Mittenwald with its diverse Lüftel paintings on the house facades and its Bavarian traditions.

Mittenwald is a place surrounded by Alpine peaks. It is known for its brightly painted houses and its violin-making history, which is illustrated in the centrally located violin-making museum. Built in the 18th century, the Church of St. Peter and Paul is notable for its colorful frescoes. To the west of the town, forest paths lead past Lake Lautersee and the Laintal waterfall. In the northwest is the Hohe Kranzberg with hiking trails and viewpoints.
