In 1904 the ship left what is now the Forum Alte Werft and followed its purpose as a tugboat, later as an icebreaker and, saved from scrapping in 2018, now as a museum ship. The Dortmund IX is one of the oldest surviving ships from the Papenburg Meyer shipyard. It completes the interactive exhibition of the maritime adventure world and forms the starting point of the Papenburg discovery routes.

In 1904, a steam tug named “Dortmund IX” was launched. To date, it is the second oldest existing ship from Meyer Werft, writes the employee portal activ-online. Only the “Außenjade II”, a lightship, is a little older, built in 1902.
