Directly in front of the town hall, on Saint-Leu-la-Forêt Square, stands the "Wendlingen Büttel." Bronze-colored, with a bell in one hand and a document in the other, he has adorned the town of Wendlingen am Neckar since 1959. Although everyone knows the Büttel, little is known about him. "Butil" means something like messenger or announcer in Old High German. The monument is intended to commemorate the centuries-old tradition of the Wendlingen Büttel.
