Tavira is romantically located on both banks of the Gilão River, which flows into the Ria Formosa and finally into the Atlantic. Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal - which of course everyone can see as they wish. Highlights are the Roman bridge, with its 7 round arches, a Moorish fortress, a generously designed town hall on arcade arches, various museums and around 20 churches.

Tavira is a small coastal town in the Portuguese Algarve. The town is located on the Gilão River, which flows into the sea via estuaries and lagoons in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The island of Tavira has a long sandy beach as well as salt pans that attract flamingos, spoonbills and other waders. The medieval Castelo de Tavira is located in the center and offers city views. The church of Santa María do Castelo houses the tombs of 7 knights killed by the Moors.
