The Netherlands has twenty-one National Parks. All the special features of Dutch nature can be found in the parks: dunes, forests, heathland, moorland, tidal nature, stream valleys, fens and much more. Together the parks cover approximately 120,000 hectares, which is almost 3% of the Netherlands.
Each park is unique. Nowhere will you find a stream like in the Drentsche Aa National Park. The best preserved stream and esvillage landscape in Western Europe

The Drentsche Aa landscape was created many thousands of years ago through a collaboration between nature and humans. An ancient landscape. You will find many special plants and animals here. But also most prehistoric monuments in our country together. The best preserved stream village landscape in Western Europe. Where you can still 'feel' the history of the villages, ash trees, fields and streams. Where the streams still follow their natural course as they have done for many thousands of years.
