The Panorama is a huge round building that houses the canvas created in 1912 by Louis Dumoulin, painter whose Panorama of the World tour was presented at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris.

Its exceptional dimensions and sound system allow for total immersion in the heart of the battle. You are surrounded on all sides by battle scenes, sounds of sabers, cavalry charges and cannon fire.

This panorama is a remarkable historical heritage, as it is one of the few that still survives.

Panorama of the Battle of Waterloo (French: Panorama de la Bataille de Waterloo) is a cylindrical painting 12 meters high and 110 meters long. The painting, created in 1915, shows the Battle of Waterloo. It was painted by Louis-Jules Dumoulin.

The panorama is located near the Lion of Waterloo in Braine-l'Alleud. Since 2015, the panorama has been part of the Mémorial 1815 museum.
The painting is located in a building that can be characterized as a roundabout in terms of architectural style. The raised center of the rotunda and Louis DuMoulin's talent for perspective give the viewer of the panorama the feeling that he is looking out on scenes that took place during the Battle of Waterloo. In addition to the visual aspect, sound effects are played to give the viewer the most realistic experience possible of the battle between the infantry and the cavalry.
In July 2008, the International Panorama Council had the panorama added to Belgium's preliminary proposal for UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Since I was mainly there for a walk, I quickly passed by the panorama. This panorama is both the name of the building (it's printed on it in large letters) and of a special work by Louis Dumoulin, an artist born in Paris in 1860 who frequently traveled to Asia and was an Orientalist painter who undertook several official missions, including one to Japan. He later co-founded the Colonial Association of French Artists, which he chaired until 1924, the year of his death.
His panorama of the Battle of Waterloo is, as Willem says, 110 meters long and 12 meters high. The canvas depicts many well-known scenes from the battle. You see the Hougoumont farm burning (which you can also walk to) and, of course, you can also see the main characters.
