Atonement crosses are obtained to redeem a wrongdoing. - These crosses date from the 14th century and are back in their original location. The reason for their construction is unknown, but there are some assumptions:

The Frellstedt stone crosses, which stand impressively at the highest point of the country road, are among the few examples of medieval stone crosses that are still preserved in the Helmstedt district. These are simple crosses made of Elm limestone. Originally they stood a little further north on the right and left of the road. One of the crosses was torn out during the construction of a gas pipe and was now standing at the Frellstedt Church. In 1998 both were moved to their current location close to the original location.
