Loog, the second district of Juist

The name “Loog” is of Frisian origin and means village. The islanders settled in the Loog after the first villages were destroyed by storm surges. Today the district is about 2.5 km from the main town to the west.

The Loog has its own small infrastructure - a supermarket, three restaurants, bicycle rental, a guarded beach and, in the summer months, a beach sports program in the mornings. Overall, life here is quieter and more leisurely in contrast to the main town. To the west is the “Domain Loog”, a popular excursion destination. You have a wonderful view of three bodies of water from the viewing platform “Dree Water Utkiek” at the Loog beach entrance. Here you have a clear view of the North Sea, the Wadden Sea and the Hammersee.

In the Loog you will also find the "Loogster Huus" - the little brother of the house of the spa guest - with a small spa garden, children's play room and boat pond.
