The Lower Pond and adjacent wetlands are lovely spots within the Ribbonwalk Nature Preserve. In this incredibly diverse botanical area you will see plenty of plants as well as animals and insects, like waterfowl and damsel and dragonflies. It can get buggy in the spring and summer so insect repellent might be a good thing to bring along. One thing to note, however, about this pond and the other pond (Woodland Pond): do not let your dogs (or human companions) swim in the water. They are not only stagnant and a little mucky, but they sometimes have dangerous blue-green algae.
