In March 1944, Frankfurt am Main's Old Town was destroyed in a bombing raid. Seventy-five years later, a new Old Town quarter has been created: 35 buildings, including 15 faithful reconstructions and 20 new buildings of high architectural and craftsmanship quality, comprise the new district. In some cases, even surviving parts of the original buildings were incorporated.
The new Frankfurt Old Town, with its mix of apartments, shops, cafés, restaurants, and museums, is a popular meeting place for residents and visitors alike.
The Archaeological Garden, with excavations dating back to the Roman occupation, is also located within this area.
