The Kavaliershaus Wiligrad is a brick building in combination with half-timbering. Half-timbering with plastered infills can be found on the upper and attic floors, while the base and the ground floor were built of brick in a modern design. The bay windows on both long sides of the building are made entirely of wood. The construction of the upper floor is reminiscent of half-timbered buildings from Lower Saxony from the Renaissance period.
The architectural design is attributed to the architect Ludwig Winter. The ducal secretary Johann Passow lived in the house with his wife and two daughters until the end of 1918. After 1920 this building is also known as the forest house.

In the spring of 2015, the architectural model of the Kavalierhaus, probably made in 1868, was found.
