The Höhenweg blasted into the wall was created as a result of military strategies and was a heavily contested front during the First World War.
The classic in the Sexten Dolomites awaits every mountaineer with grandiose and spectacular views of the Fischleintal and the wild jagged Dolomite mountains and is also well suited for absolute beginners. Because the "Strada degli Alpini" is not technically difficult, but the exposed passages absolutely require a head for heights and sure-footedness, otherwise there is no fun here.
Otherwise, the rock band, which is easy to walk on, is secured with wire ropes at all difficult points and runs through the west flank of the Elfer without any major differences in altitude. If you don't have any problems with the depth and deep views of narrow ledges in places, this climb is a real treat.
