In the wild:
"No other species of pig has such an extensive distribution area as the European-Asian wild boar. As an omnivore, it eats both plant and animal food. Like all pigs, the wild boar also has very poor vision. The hearing and sense of smell, on the other hand, are excellently developed, since they have to locate much of their food underground.
The mating season of wild boar, the frenzy, usually occurs in the wild in November and December. After almost 4 months, the piglets are born in March. Under good conditions, however, wild boar can have offspring all year round. For giving birth, the sow builds a “nest”, the so-called cauldron.
While the family members of domestic pigs are called boars, sows and piglets, they are called boars, sows and piglets in wild boars.
